I Like Blue

“I graduated in June 2002 with a 1st class honours in Design: Graphics and a great passion to make this my career. In essence, studying at Staffordshire really developed my understanding of what can make successful communication both in research and my own practice. The course structure and tutors support really was excellent (they really bent over backwards to help!) and i truly believe i would not be where i am today without their support and encouragement. One of the many things i learned on the course from the very beginning was that a good idea is fundamental to any great design, in short, no poor idea can be masked by a beautiful design, and i question my own work on a day to day basis with this in mind.My final year helped me to develop and specialise in the areas i was most interested in; Illustrative typography, Fashion promotion and Branding which leads me to what i am up to today. After graduating i moved down to London where i was offered a position as junior designer with ‘4 Creative’ at Channel 4. Here was the perfect opportunity to demonstrate and develop my branding and advertising skills on the Channel and it’s sister stations; E4 and Film Four.Three years after leaving Staffs i’m still doing what i love, I’m currently working in manchester at LOVE Creative developing and designing creative concepts from branding and advertising through to multimedia for a wide range of clients such as; PlayStation, BBC, Chelsea College of Art and Design, Nike and Comic Relief to name but a few.Something my MD said to me on my first week at LOVE has really stuck in my mind and i think it’s a really nice thing to bear in mind if you are considering a career in the creative industry. He said that Creativity is probably one of (or the only) interest that stems from childhood and to make a career out of something like this, that you love, is really something. I totally agree!”
