Mr Bingo

The first time I saw Mr Bingo’s work was a few months ago at the Nelly Duff Gallery. I even remember seeing his “Hair Portraits” series, although my memory of this is somewhat vague. Shortly after, I liked his prints for Haiti, which were very successful, but I was still not yet acquainted with his name. I then went to Pick Me Up few days ago. It was only a quick visit, but Mr Bingo’s work was there! I saw again, his prints for Haiti, the “Hair Portraits”, and most of his other work. I realized that I was becoming one of his admirers.

Mr Bingo is one of those artists whose work requires time to appreciate. These are the types of artists who influence me most, and this is why I am glad to feature him here on C&L.

Some say he’s the ‘Master of pens’.
Some call him the ‘Shoreditch Beat Busketeer’.
Some say he fucks about for a living.

Pick Me Up is the first Contemporary Graphic Art Fair running in London until Monday 3 May.
