Daniel Mackie uses watercolour to tell stories. He is playing with perspectives, scales and details creating uncanny and atypical characters.
Mackie is using thick 300gsm saunders watercolour paper after having used Photoshop for a decade.
His work focuses on scale and details. He distorts usual scales allowing him to create a space for multiple layers of drawings.
The selection of three we featured, presents Mackie’s influences of story telling, myths, japanese illustrations and Henri Matisse. Always inspired by stories, you can find out about all his different illustrations on his blog as well as following the creative process.
Daniel Mackie has been recently awarded by Creative Review as ‘Best in Book’ 2011.
